Community Outreach

Mission Teas: Monthly tea is served to the residents of Mystic River Homes and Congregate on the last Monday of the month at 4:00.  Congregation members make sandwiches, cookies and tea and join the residents in fellowship.

Vacation Bible School:  A full week of summer fun where children, of all faiths, from kindergarten to fifth grade are invited to explore and experience God’s welcoming love at VBS!  The adventures include interactive Bible fun and great music, cool crafts, fun games, creative snacks and more.

Monthly Food Collections:  The first Sunday of every month is designated as our food collection day.  Non-perishable foods are collected to give to local food pantries and shelters.

Chili and Mexican Dish Cook-Off: A winter community event run by Union Baptist Church's youth.  Everyone is encouraged to bring their best chili or mexican dish to vie for the coveted "Wooden Spoon"!  This fun evening of fellowship is an opportunity to get to know your fellow congregation members and individuals from the community.  Prizes are awarded to the best chili and mexican dish.

Community Easter Egg Hunt:  Every Saturday before Easter Union Baptist Church runs a community Easter Egg Hunt.  The playground and library lawn is divided into two sections with one section for the older kids and an easier section for the younger kids (if it is raining the hunt is held indoors).  Families are then invited into the Fellowship Hall to dye Easter Eggs. For more information see our Lent page.

Advent Family Craft Night:  A night where we get together as a community to celebrate Advent by creating decorations we can cherish for years.  Craft tables are set up for children, and cookies and punch are served.  There is even a special visit from Santa!  For more informationon date and time see our Advent page.

Community Christmas Dinner: All are Welcome! Every year our Fellowship Hall is opened to anyone in the community who would like a homemade Christmas dinner and fellowship with others.  Volunteers from around the community join together to serve meals, deliver meals to the homebound and provide rides to and from the dinner for those who don't have transportation.  For more information see our Advent Page.
